I assume the sub genres of "TV Show" and "TV Series" were used before the main category of "TV Show / TV Series" was added, which would make their current use redundant and no longer needed when categorising.

On a TV sub genre related note, I've seen a couple sub genres used to cover franchises (examples linked below), so I thought it might be useful to have sub genres for a show/series and then use that for the individual episodes of the show.

I'm asking as I'm going through the film pages for TV shows and updating their categories along with making sure they have IMDb and Wikipedia links and other basic information set, just general clean up, and of what I've mentioned I've only been removing the "TV Show" and "TV Series" sub genres as I've changed them to a main category.

https://www.filmo.gs/browse/film?sub-genre=The%20Muppets
https://www.filmo.gs/browse/film?sub-genre=Ghostbusters%20Series

On a TV sub genre related note, I've seen a couple sub genres used to cover franchises

those are incorrect and should be removed. a franchise is not asubgenre. this has already been discussed. SUBGENRE for muppets should be Puppet-acting or something like that.

Yes Oteis is correct, a sub is like Anime for japanese shows.

Or

Sitcom for shows like seinfeld and Fraisher

Detective for decetive shows

etc etc, if unsure google is very powerful and displays sub genres.

To be clear, the main reason for this was to confirm that the "TV Show" and "TV Series" sub genres were redundent with the main category for them.

The franchise sub genres I linked were ones I came across while updating categories for TV show pages, I did not remove as I was unsure of their use.

I then suggested a possible way to group episode pages together using sub genres as there seems to be no way to connect them to a show.

Another possible suggestion would be to have an option similar to the chapters & films sections for films to be used for TV shows to be able to list seasons/series and episodes so they can be linked to their show.

It would be very simple to link EPISODES with TV SERIES/SHOW using the fields in the current FILM submission form.

Let's use the ADVENTURE TIME tv series/show film page as an example:

LINKS
- instead of using the field for shit like "IMDb" or "Wikipedia", enter the filmogs link for an episode

(links)
https://www.filmo.gs/film/51851-slumber-party-panic
(notes)
"Season 1, Episode 1"

Do this for ALL episodes

This information would appear in the "External Links" section at top of page, allowing users to easily search for an episode.

This would also clean up RELEASE page film links - only the TV series/show link would be required. This https://www.filmo.gs/release/55973-adventure-time-the-complete-first-season is not acceptable.

<hr/>

For a more elegant solution developers should add a specific field - identical to "links" field but labeled "episodes"

Developers were contacted with this suggestion months ago.

UPDATE:
in (notes) section of LINKS field, tile of episode is needed
"Slumber Party Panic - Season 1, Episode 1"

That is the best that can be done currently.

I guess it's trying to find the best way to bodge it with what's available, hence my suggestion of using the sub genres, at least that would put them in one place.

The downside of adding to external links is that I'd argue that IMDb, Wikipedia and official websites are logical external links to have on a page about a show.

What would be the best category for a TV Movie? Not really a show or a series, but also not really a "Feature Film". I've put a "TV Show/TV Series" and added a note "TV Movie" on some I've just put in.

I'd go with Other.

Incorrect...

"FEATURE FILM" - is the LENGTH of the film NOT the location of its original presentation.

i linked a tv series episodes in the notes, is that ok?

+1 TV FILM should be filed under FEATURE FILM
