Hi all users!

since "Staff" isn't able to add more proper fields in the submission form, can't we all not just agree
to use the same method in the Title Field.

As for now users do it their own way, with no system what so ever.

We all use : - () in the Titel field, but not in a common way. If we all used the same system it would benefit
this site.

My proposal is this:

Title: Second Title. example Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Title - Edition. example Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Special Edition.
Title (Rental or Promo). example Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Rental).

So in the end a release could look like this in the Title field.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Special Edition (Rental) or like this
Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Promo).

We should all use the : - () the same way.

So use this : Second Title.
and this - for the Editions (special, extended, director's cut)
and this () for Rental or promo.

This is how i enter a new release.

Any thoughts are welcome! Is this something we all could use in this database?

Thanx.

Already been discussed years ago. Won't happen.

Just use the current system.

Title - (What ever edition) that works.

Did either of you really read the first post and understood it?
Clearly not, according to your answers.

I wasn't asking for new fields, i was asking for that we use the same method in the title field.

As for now it could look like this in the Title field. Some Users add it like this
The Terminator: Special Edition

while others add it like this
The Terminator (Special Edition)

and the third option is like this
The Terminator - Special Edition

All i was asking for is that we all should agree to use the same method in the Title field instead of 3 different ones.

So once again the proposal for the use of separators in the Title field.

This : for second title
This - for editions
This () for rental / promo

Thanx

(This for edition)
(This for rental / promo)

  • this for 2nd title

this - for 2nd titles

The 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' part makes sense.
I don't understand why 'Special Edition' or 'Promo' should be entered in the title though?
I've never added those kinds of descriptors in the title and don't think they should be included.

But since we're on the subject, should releases with multiple films be added:

like this '2 Movie Pack: Action Collection'
https://www.filmo.gs/release/330638-2-movie-pack-action-collection

or like this 'Alien Intruder / Space Fury'
https://www.filmo.gs/release/263448-alien-intruder-space-fury

They should be added however it is spelt on front of case / spine.

For mutiple films add them how they are spelt on the spine.

Well i don't like it either, but since some users is against adding additional fields for those descriptors in the submission form we don't really have a place for them.
Sure, could add it in the Notes Section, but in my opinion the difference between releases should be spotted right away, that's why i put in the Title field.

From the Rules & Guidelines:

Title

Enter the title exactly as it appears on the release.

Do not use the original language title(s) of the film(s)s on the release (the original film titles can be linked through the films field).

If the title appears differently on the cover and the spine (or elsewhere on the item) use the most visually obvious title. Use the Notes section to mention any important differences.

Subtitles should be added into the this field using a colon as a separator (e.g. Title: Subtitle).

Yes it would be best to not add titles to notes.

Notes is basicaly for like ltd number etc.
