How to delete a duplicate entry?

Can you link to the duplicate please?

Hi BarryWallace, we've been keeping all the duplicates in this thread

https://www.filmo.gs/forum/32123-List-duplicate-credits-here

And I've added yours to that thread now.

Hey all, thanks for keeping track of these!
Our developers will investigate a fix. I believe the solution considered is that when an entity has nothing in its catalog, it will automatically be removed.

Hi,

We have now worked on this and run a script to clean up all the databases. It will run monthly at this point. If anyone sees any problems, please let me know!

Companies are being tracked here:

Although I'd like some to stay as it works well as a guide for newbies.

Seeing a bit of a problem, not sure if it's due to the recent script addition. I'd submitted Police Story 2 at one point, and my page for it got data-wiped and titled 'Duplicate' eventually, due to Police Story 2's film already being in the database.

A couple days ago, it was edited into 'Get Him to the Greek' ( https://www.filmo.gs/film/39626-Get-Him-To-The-Greek ), so now that film is listed in my Contributions page despite me having nothing to do with that film's addition to the database.

Is there some way that could be implemented to remove former and future entries put through the Duplicate process from users' Contributions pages, to avoid this sort of clutter?

It looks like Greek was originally Police Story 2 which I turned into Duplicate

Yes, I mentioned that. I'm not sure if the Duplicate entry was automatically selected for the base when sound.and.vision hit 'Add Film', or if it was manually selected to try and repurpose the Duplicate (since it doesn't seem like outright removal is an option yet).

Apologies, I was doing some housekeeping and saw 4 "duplicate" titled entries and repurposed them quickly into other films I expect to add releases for in the future.

I agree, if there was some way to properly discard of duplicate entries it would make this a lot cleaner (as some releases have erroneous images in their disabled lists)

Got it, thanks for the explanation s.a.v.. Would you be opposed to making a copy of the GHTTG entry (using the 'Add one like this' button under 'Edit this Page') and reverting the Film to Duplicate until we have a clean way of handling Duplicates?

Can do, sadly I can't remove the image for it :(

Thanks! Hopefully we'll have solutions for both issues before too long. :)

We've been using the duplicate feature in bibliogs for some time now and I get emails weekly for authors I've never touched. Very annoying.

But, at least the data is correct.

I accidentally created a duplicate as well.

I would like to suggest changing the name of the original to one of it's English variations so that it can be easily found.

I changed it into a different film that surprisingly wasn't in the database yet

For the sake of data integrity, it must remain as the original language. The search is what needs fixed, or, people can just find it through the releases themselves.

Understood

I don't think turning an entry into another entry is a good idea. Note the duplicate. However, two entries may seem to be identical but there may be a minor variation between the two. Difficult to determine with little data to go by on some of these.

I don't understand why we can't take "Duplicate" pages and make them into new films. This is what we do over at Bibliogs for authors for many months now.

See here for what my above comment is referencing: https://www.filmo.gs/film/39626-Duplicate/history

Do the repurposed Duplicates stay in the notifications of the original submitters on Bibliogs?

Yes.

Title the duplicate entries "duplicate entry" and let the official filmogs crew delete them. It's lame turning it into a completely different entry. They get paid for the technical stuff.

Hi - I need this one deleted. I accidentally created a second version of the television series.
